Lava Stonegrill Mount Lawley
Why go out to a restaurant to cook your own dinner? Well, when it involves a slab of volcanic rock heated to a scorching 400 degrees and a delicious array of fresh ingredients, it becomes a much more attractive proposition. All fat is trimmed off the meat, no oil is added and the stonegrill seals in all the natural juices, nutrients and flavours. Owner Mike Gow confidently claims their prime cut of beef to be the best-tasting steak ever, but you may be tempted by the more adventurous bush tucker combo - a feast of camel and kangaroo fillet, venison cutlet and a crocodile kebab served with plum dipping sauce. That said, the stone cooks fish and vegetables beautifully too. Put it to the test by ordering the vegetarian combo (haloumi cheese, mushrooms, eggplant, zucchini, asparagus and baby corn) or the seafood (swordfish, tiger prawns, scallops and squid). Of course, with all the sizzling, chatter and funky jazzy sounds it's never a quiet affair, but that's the beauty of it. It's like having a mini-barbecue indoors - you can sit and relax with a drink in one hand and a pair of tongs in the other, enjoying good company and great food.
