111 Bluff Black Rock
With a reputation bigger than its dining room, One-Eleven Bluff serves up modern Australian cuisine with an Asiatic influence in an unassuming premises set well away from the Bluff Road shopping precinct. The decor is minimalist with dark red and grey upholstery complementing an unusual display of black napkins and tablecloths guaranteed to let the gastronomic presentations of chef Richard Van Deursen shine. Famed from his work at the Vin Cellar and Blakes Cafeteria, Van Duersen has created a menu blending traditional Aussie bistro staples such as seafood, curries and paella with tangy Asian flavours - adding yellow curry sauce to the crisp-fried snapper main and star anise sauce to the establishment's famous double-cooked belly pork in crackling. Prawns, mussels and chorizo tango with Vietnamese mint and rind of lime in the exciting array of savoury offerings.
Athough the wine list is not extensive, appetising dessert options such as banana pudding with honeycomb ice ream and Spanish doughnut with chocolate sauce and chocolate fondant are sure to earn some fans. One-Eleven Bluff's modern business-like vibe and bayside location make it a good choice, and often a busy one, for corporate lunches or dinners to impress.
