Cru54 Surry Hills After a brief hiatus, this Surry Hills institution has re-emerged on the bustling Foveaux Street strip with a clearly renewed focus and finesse.

The cosy space has shifted from a cute little eatery into a sultry oasis, with a chic glass facade giving way to a moodily-lit, tile-clad bar area, peppered with contemporary furnishings and futuristic light fixtures. This update also extends into chef Catherine Andreo's stellar menu, which features flavoursome share dishes inspired by Andreo's unique Spanish and French heritage, but which ultimately leans towards the Spanish side of things.

Exuding a homely sophistication, the gourmet tapas menu includes such standouts as the caramelised goat's cheese with onion compote; the Swiss brown mushroom filled with jamon serrano; tuna and peppers empanada with olive tapenade. There's also a number of tablas (cured meat and cheeses), and some more substantial but no less mouth-watering raciones (share dishes), such as the paprika prawns, seafood paella and pork belly glazed with sherry and roasted with celeriac and parsnip. more
