yourRestaurants presents ... Summer Dining 2009-2010 TAS

Summer would just not be the same without fruity cocktails, seafood buffets, messy hamburgers, ice-cold beers and even icier icy poles. So the yourRestaurants team have decided to devote this list to the beaches, beer gardens and botanical gardens where you'll find the hottest places to eat, drink and be seen throughout summer.

1

Blue Skies Dining
Hobart
Cafe by day and brasserie by night, this Murray Street Pier beauty overlooks Sullivans Cove and Salamanca Square. The indoor and outdoor areas let you bask in the sunshine while enjoying fresh Tassie seafood (kids can choose from the Grommet menu). Summer is the perfect time to savour a Sandy Colada cocktail at Blues Skies Dining.

2

Mures Upper Deck
Hobart
Over at Victoria Dock, Mures Upper Deck, Lower Deck and Sushi Bar promise boatloads of fresh seafood every day. The Upper Deck in particular offers wonderful harbour views, fine Tassie wines, and an enviable cold seafood platter.

3

Sandy Bay Beach Woodfired Pizza
Sandy Bay
As the sun sets, Sandy Bay Beach Woodfired Pizza rises. Cloistered among a strip of shops on Beach Road, this ever-so-casual waterside pizza house is just the right way to finish a summer's day in Sandy Bay.

4

Riverview Snacks
Sandy Bay
For a relaxing snack in the sun, this new cafe and bar offers a bright deck perched right on the harbour. It's a calm escape from the clamour and colour of the casino, and it's open till late if you want to enjoy your glass of vino and the still waters for a little while longer.

5

Mud Bar and Restaurant
Launceston
Lauded for its sensational wine list and Italian-meets-mod-Oz menu, Mud Bar and Restaurant is an elegant and stylish option for those late breakfasts by the water, or those evening engagements gathered around tasting plates, chardonnays and the cosy lounges.

6

The Bay Hotel Bar & Grill
Sandy Bay
Farewell Doctor Syntax Hotel, and welcome Bay Hotel Bar & Grill! In 2009, this former workmen s pub turned into a modern gastro-pub with an absolute ripper of a beer garden. Live music every Sunday adds to the upbeat mood, as do the chargrilled steaks, antipasto plates and international drops.

7

The Stackings at Peppermint Bay
Woodbridge
From the floor-to-ceiling windows and sunny outdoor spots, you can gaze languorously into the waters surrounding Bruny Island. This renowned coastal fine diner values the good things in life: fresh regional produce, fine cheese, select wines and a relaxed state of mind.
