yourRestaurants presents ... Summer Dining 2009-2010 QLD

Summer would just not be the same without fruity cocktails, seafood buffets, messy hamburgers, ice-cold beers and even icier icy poles. So the yourRestaurants team have decided to devote this list to the beaches, beer gardens and botanical gardens where you'll find the hottest places to eat, drink and be seen throughout summer.

1

James Street Bistro
Fortitude Valley
One of the funkiest bistros in Fortitude Valley, this cross-continental eatery feels like summer all the time with its sunny alfresco area and high-ceilinged interiors. It's also just outside the Palace Cinema, so you can go from chick flick to chick drink in a few short skips (any takers for a Sex & the Cinema cocktail?)

2

Jade Buddha
Brisbane
An exotic charmer on Eagle Street Pier, Jade Buddha takes you to Bali and beyond with pan-Asian tastes like Balinese-style lamb, a Chinese vegetable stack, and combination pad thai. It's an east-meets-west oasis of bamboo-lined ceilings, comfy booths, water features and an airy deck that frames views of the Story Bridge.

3

Caddy Shack Cafe
Herston
It's not all about putts and tees at the Victoria Park Golf Complex & Function Venue, as this popular restaurant, bar and uber-huge beer garden goes to show. Close to the city, this venue somehow seems worlds away with its infectiously laidback vibe and casual nosh including pizzas, pies, steaks and salads.

4

Nu Nu Restaurant
Palm Cove
Paradise: found. Summer can be a bit on the hot side up at the Tropical North at this time of year, but who could forego the awaiting cerulean waters, swaying palm trees and tropical breezes of Palm Cove? Nu Nu Restaurant, a multi-award-winning eatery, is one of the highlights of the main dining strip.

5

Amis Restaurant Bar and Venue
Point Lookout
If you happen to be visiting North Stradbroke Island, or if you're even lucky enough to live there, this sun-soaked eatery is likely to be your cup of tea (or in this case, platter of seafood). The menu is seasonal, so you'll find anything from scallops to the famous Mondo duck confit.

6

Grill'd, Ascot
Ascot
Fast becoming the go-to place for burger addicts on a health kick, Grill'd is sure to be a summer afternoon and evening hangout. This Ascot outlet has a sizeable outdoor area where you can munch on the exclusive Big Queenslander burger, featuring lean beef, tasty cheese, a free-range egg, crispy bacon, beetroot, salad, relish and herbed mayo.

7

Mondo Cafe Bar & Grill
Cairns
As close as you can get to Cairns Harbour without falling in, this super-relaxing restaurant and bar laps up the warm breezes as you enjoy cocktails, antipasto and grilled seafood plates, and a few tasty surprises like Szechuan and coconut sizzling prawns, and Sri Lankan chicken curry.

8

Aqua Linea
Teneriffe
The blue waters of the Brisbane River provide a stunning backdrop to this classy and nicely tucked away mod-Oz diner. It's a bright spot for a lazy breakfast of grilled pork sausages or eggs Benedict, changing tact for intimate evening affairs over crab and chilli open lasagne or the fish of the day.
