With 25 branches across Australia, Montezuma's is an Aztec-themed novelty diner generations have come to love. (which includes chicken, steak and onion, beef, pork, barramundi and vegie burritos) is low-fat, low-GI, high-protein, low-sugar and optionally vegetarian, gluten- or lactose-free.

From Monday, May 3 to Wednesday, May 5, all Mad Mex outlets in New South Wales and Victoria are celebrating Cinco de Mayo with a five for $5 menu where five menu items including mini burritos, margaritas and churros are a miniscule five bucks each. Like Guzman, Mad Mex offer a gluten-free burrito, which is titillatingly titled the Naked Burrito. The first Australian outlet of the health-conscious Californian burrito brand, this Hawthorn hub is heaven for anyone who likes their tortillas overflowing. The Godzilla burrito is true to form, stacked with steak and chicken, beans, Spanish rice, cheese, guacamole, lime sour cream, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, black olives and mild salsa.

To celebrate Cinco de Mayo on Wednesday, May 5, High Tech is giving out free "siesta-sized" burritos from 5pm to 9pm. The festivities continue on Sunday, May 30 for High Tech's first birthday party, with live music, pinatas and free food samples.

Since 1986, Mexican-loving Melburnians have paid Fiesta Mexican due attention for its nachos, fajitas, quesadillas, enchiladas, tacos, chimichangas and, you guessed it, burritos. The quirkily named, tennis champion-themed Hewitt and Agassi burritos pack plenty of punch or rather, backhands and volleys?

Developing institutional status in Adelaide, this fully decked-out Mexican eatery has served customers burritos, nachos and tacos for around three decades now. The all-you-can-eat Mondays and Tuesdays are for hardcore salsa addicts and should be washed down with a sweet margarita, of course.

Just look for the cactus outside and you've found Prickles, a popular local Tex-Mex joint in Parap. Prickles does all of the favourites including burritos, enchiladas and barbecued spare ribs, but many thrill-seekers go for the tongue-ravaging, chilli-filled specials.
