Bon Appetit: Bastille Day Dining 2009

Croissants, escargots, foie gras, fromages, souffles and bouillabaisse - the French are responsible for some of the finest culinary creations ever to line the stomachs of gastronomic gourmands. It's no coincidence that many of the words associated with dining come from French culture: a la carte, hors d'oeuvre, maitre d', entree, cafe - the list goes on.

So on July 14, Bastille Day not only commemorates the liberation of modern France from a royal regime in 1789; it also gives French expats, Francophiles and the newly initiated an excuse to indulge in the creme de la creme of Gallic cuisine here in Oz. C'est magnifique!
