The refurbishment of the old Arnott's biscuit factory was a great idea that gave the Bakehouse Quarter infinite potential. The newly opened Zenja Cafe is the realisation of that potential. Just the right mix of historic elements and contemporary comforts makes this place open and fresh, with plush benches and white tables jutting up against exposed brick walls. The inner-child can almost still smell the countless Monte Carlos that were produced in the same space.
This relaxed cafe offers a broad range of options for breakfast and lunch, with simultaneous all-day menus running on weekends. The menu has all the cornerstones you would expect, plus a few unique innovations. The fried chilli eggs come served with crispy bacon, tomato, mushrooms and sourdough, topped with Zenja's special chilli sauce. Meanwhile, the healthy section of the lunchtime menu offers a 320g grain-fed rib eye steak, fittingly called Maximum potential.
