Short sighted
We have been to Zanders 2 times in the last 6 months. The first time was around 8pm on a friday night & to our disappointment they had closed the kitchen... Scarborough can be very dull. We had heard a few good stories and tried again today at 11.45am... breakfast had finished, which was fine, and we were told that lunch didn't start for another 45 mins. For a prime location, a sunday, people everywhere, 35 degrees .... not serving food?? . No wonder everyone bags our city. By the way Zanders, there were 40 people lining up at Dome and the other eaterys to the north were packed. Get your act together.

Great dinner
Zanders
My brother and I went to Zanders last Friday and enjoyed our time there.
We enjoyed the ambiance of the restaurant with its close location to the beach.
The service was good, we got drinks very quickly then our entr?e and mains.
I have been impressed by the size of the entr?e Chilli mussels. I took the Chicken linguine as a main while my brother took the Surf & Turf. The chicken linguine was delicious and a good value for money. The Surf and turf was nicely served with its prawns. We got a bottle of Cabernet Merlot from West Cape Howe.

We spent just over $100, were happy with our night and will definitely come back

afetr eating here severeal times i knew a night out with my girlfriend would be perfect dining here in such an amazing location with ocean views from nearly every table. Service was efficient and food was amazing with fresh local barramundi with crispy skin that reminded me or pork crackling was just divine and tasting plate blowing me away with such flavours. Consistently good
having eaten here about 8 times I have always enjoyed my meal and the Zanders staff always friendly. The main meals are delicious and if you still have room for the deserts, they are impressive. - great to take the kids to as well as there is something for everyone!!

A great experience!
Went here for dinner as it had been recommended by a friend. There were 4 of us and no one was disappointed! The service was great as we were seated promptly and didn't have to wait long for drinks. We ordered some tapas for entree then shared the seafood platter for main! It was huge and absolutely delicious! I have had seafood platters before and usually they are not hot or just full of battered fish. This one had a lovely variety and was all hot and fresh. Just to top it off we got to watch the sunset over the ocean during our meal. Just perfect.

Yummy lunch
I had a lovely lunch, a crisp and flavorsome Thai prawn salad and my companion thoroughly enjoyed her chicken dish. The service was non intrusive and very friendly and has certainly improved. Will be going again.

What a let down
On my way to Hippo Creek only to find they had relocated. Walked in and took a glance at the menu, decided to give it a go.
The starter of duck spring rolls was immaculate, presentation, execution and taste were brilliant. Left me with high hopes of the main, slow roasted beef, roast pots, mustard jus....
Being a head chef, in a Michelin starred restaurant in Europe I know my stuff, have trained in over 12 different countries in 4 continents, you can take my word for it, it's not biased.
The beef tasted like stewing steak that had been left in a slow cooker for numerous days, riddled with fat. The roast potatoes were wedges that had been submerged in cooking oil then placed in an oven on a high heat which blackened the tops without basting, leaving one side burnt to a crisp and the other undercooked. The mustard sauce would have been OK, not enough tartness to constitute a mustard jus but the fact that it had split with the oil on the plate was just unacceptable. A couple of shallots thrown in for good measure did not enhance or compliment the dish, pan fried crispy Julien of some description had been scattered over the top, might as well have put shards of steel on the dish, again, completely unnecessary.
Overall, like I said, the starter was sublime the main was a shambles.
The head chef should be disgraced to let food go out with such a vast contrast.

Better than previous reviews!!!
We are from interstate and stumbled across Zanders whilst heading to Scarborough Beach. Quick, friendly service, (it was quite busy) orders were taken promptly and requests catered for superbly. Nothing was too much trouble - eggs and bacon were outstanding, fresh juices a highlight.

We liked it so much we booked in again tomorrow morning. We eat out a lot all over Australia and it one of the Top 5 breakfasts we have ever had.

Give it a go - on today's performance you will not be disappointed - prices are fair for what you receive!

A waste
My fiance and I visited Zanders for breakfast their opening day and were impressed enough by the food and menu we booked in for dinner that night. Since then the food and service has gotten worse and worse. I have never experienced such consistently bad service from so many different staff members the last lunch visit I made my friend and I waited 25 mins to order and it took another 45 mins to arrive! Because of the conveniece of Zanders location we have given it a few more chances than deserved but definitely won't be doing it again, especially since the prices are not particularly light on the pocket either.

Do yourself a favor and give this one a miss...
Every time I have been to Zanders I have been very, very disappointed. The service, once it finally arrives is average, and then it disappears again for another half an hour! The food I had was terrible, and they stuffed up my order, then refusing to fix it and made ME pay for it. I highly recommend NOT going to Zanders. It always tempts you back because of the location, and every time you return it disappoints further.

Awesome
Last time we ate here it was called something else and vowed never to return. Zanders is entirely different. Vibrant menu with beachside staples like Burgers and fish and chips to fine dining specials like crispy duck and Pork Belly. I ordered the Surf and Turf! Mostly for the name but it was fantastic. My partner had the crispy duck and we were recommended a cabernet to match both dishes. Awesome food and awesome service even though the waitress' english was not great. I can not recommend this restaurant highly enough.

Disappointing again
My husband and I first came to this restaurant a few months ago for dinner. This experience was extremely disappointing and we vowed never to return. However, driving through the rain for somewhere to have breakfast was a nightmare. Parking was too hard and it was too wet to eat on the coast. So Zanders it was.

Well this is a cafe that we will not be trying again. The service is average, nothing special to mention there. The food was disappointing again. I wanted something light so I ordered the fritatta. It was the driest meal I have ever eaten. The only thing that saved it was a rocket and tomato salad that it was resting on. My husband ordered the full breakfast - the only part of that he enjoyed was the pork sausage.

So so
We went there expecting something half decent but were served something completely opposite.

After opening and spilling our bottle of champagne the waitress left us to get something to clean the spillage but did not return for 20 minutes and even then did not clean the mess on our table.

Thinking things couldn't get any worse my dining partner who ordered a medium rare steak was served something so rare it was hard to believe it wasn't running off the plate.

It is terribly disappointing to have a restaurant in such a prominent tourist location serving this up this standard of food and service. Hopefully it was just a bad night.
