Zamia was the favourite fodder among Western Australia's foraging dinosaurs. Today, its namesake, overlooking the Jurassic-themed playground in Kings Park, is attracting herds of a very different species. Families, locals, tourists and businesspeople alike flock to this leafy haven for coffee and cake, freshly squeezed juices, wholesome breakfasts, focaccias, homemade quiches and light lunches. But with its ultra-modern design, this chic little cafe is light years ahead of the Jurassic age. Owner Peter Fuhrmann has utilised the very latest building techniques to conserve energy, and the results are impressive to say the least. Order at the counter and sit out on the timber deck in the shade of the silvery solar Vergola roof. Or take a seat inside where the louvres in the ceiling allow the sunlight and cool breeze to flow through the cafe. Should it rain, the louvres automatically close, giving the space a warm and cosy feel. So in all weather, in all seasons, the Zamia Cafe is one of Perth's prime grazing spots.

Can't go wrong
We love it - we were very pleasd with our service and the meal spoke for itself. We had dip and bread for starters, and then I had fish and chips, and my partner had lemon pepper squid. Will be going again for sure for Sunday lunch. Thanks Zamia.

I LOVE ZAMIA
It's a bit pricey but what can you expect from the King's Park location, gorgeous view, lovely staff and wonderful food. I have been there on several occasions and everytime I have had great food. Chicken foccacia is a must have. The squid rings are also recommended. YUM

Zamia Cafe
My family took my aged aunt (90 years) to the Zamia cafe as a treat. A pleasant enough venue, attractive surrounds, if a little cold (it was raining on the day). The food was awful. Plates cold, food lukewarm. My son didnt eat his soggy fish and chips. The extra serving of fries were coldish, greasy and unpalatable. My wife's caesar salad was smothered in dressing. My aunt's focaccia was glue-like and discarded. My sardines were tasteless.
