The popular Genting Palace has been transformed into a sparkling jewel in the Burswood crown. Meaning precious stone, Yu truly shines - offering traditional favourites and exotic flavours with a sophisticated yet simple contemporary twist. Using premium produce, award-winning sous chef Pat Cheong presents every dish as a work of art. Quite a feat when you consider there are over 90 dishes on the menu, ranging from the signature Peking duck; to deep-fried Patagonian tooth fish; baked crab shell with Portuguese sauce; sauteed eye fillet with honey pepper sauce and delicacies such as shark's fin and jellyfish. This is accompanied by a list of some 450 fine wines, including many premium and platinum labels. Just as much attention to detail has been given to the dining room itself. Gold tableware from Japan and China was commissioned for the restaurant. Authentic artefacts including prints and carvings don the walls, contrasting with the contemporary red and gold themed decor. And the restaurant also boasts its very own reception lobby where you can relax on black leather lounges with a pre-dinner drink.

Favourite Chinese
Our favourite Chinese restaurant in Perth. We try and request a booth when booking - just adds to that special dinner for two. So far we have not been let down on our request. The food also has never let us down. Always delicious. An upmarketing chinese restaurant, not cheap but lovely for that special night out. The service hasn't always been spot on, but our last visit certainly was. No complaints and a lovely night out.

7 piece banquet or 7 piece taste platter.....
after seeing so many good reviews we decided to check the place out....as we walked in, the place looked fancy and all pimped out with orient deco... so i thought we're here for a good meal, i mean 7 piece banquet sounds so filling and more than i can chew...we sat down to our table and waited for the feast. Took about half an hour for the first dish to come and to tell you the truth it's not even worth waiting for, as the night went by we sat down and watched each disapointing dish goes by and finally decided to leave with the desserts for take out...

Absolute delight
My husband and I went to Yu to celebrate our 3 month wedding anniversary (hehe). I highly recommend requesting a booth. It was private and very special. We ordered the 7 piece banquet - expensive but divine! We were so full and the food was to die for. I was so excited as dishes I had tasted and loved in China were served to me! The service was great, we had a wonderful time.

Would certainly return
After reading the reviews here, was a bit dubious about first visit here, but our experience was much different. Service was attentive and friendly without being obtrusive or pushy. We ordered entrees then ordered mains, just in case they all came out at once as per other review! Food was excellent. Didn't have wine but beers came in cold fresh glasses (lot of places don't refresh your glass each time). Good value too. So definitely will return.

Food good, service not up to par, wine knowledge zero
The food at Yu was good, though not spectacular by any means, esepcially at this price point.
Service was poor - we felt rushed as all the dishes - starters and mains - were served together. The serving of the signature Peking Duck was meant to be a show as the waiter prepared it at the table. However, we could not watch as we were concentrating on eating all the other dishes before they got cold.
Having ordered scallops in black bean sauce, they were served with ginger and spring onion instead. They also appeared very small (possibly sliced in half?).
The wine list was extensive, with many vintages of Grange and wines on offer up to $3,000. Despite this, there appeared to be no wine waiter and the staff were unable to recommend wines or say anything intelligent about them. When we tried to order a Creme de Menthe, the waitress did not know what it was despite the fact it is used in one of the house cocktails.
I would not go again as I don't think this restaurant offers value for money.
I'd suggest Yu sends its staff for an evening out at the Bluewater Grill in Applecross to see how service should be done - and at half the price!

Great Service
Great food and better than average service. I'd read previously that service was poor, but it could not be faulted on this night.
