Ying Thai 2

When you think of traditional Thai restaurants, fluorescent walls and playschool-style fittings hardly spring to mind. Well, Ying Thai is a little different. Cheerful slogans (hello!) painted atop lime green walls salute diners on entry, while bright blue tabletops and plastic yellow chairs provide the setting for Thai dining with a twist. If you haven't guessed already: your kids will love it. Stir-fried meals are the specialty of the day, with a range of chicken, beef, seafood, duck, pork and vegetarian options. In fact, the modest menu and friendly prices may just provide the perfect offset to its unashamedly child-like design.

Valentine's Dinner
We went for dinner with a group of 7. The food was amazing, however the service could be better. It just took long to get someone's attention and when you did they seem pretty annoyed to serve you. But two thumbs up for the food, so you can ignore the service.

Pretty authentic Thai
I work at one of the unis nearby and have a few Thai friends who swear that this is one of the very few authentic Thai restaurants in the area. Yes it's a bit spicy but then anything less would be disappointing! Try the larb ped, to wake up the taste buds. The atmosphere is great with all the international students around and the colourful decor. It has a real buzz.

An old favourite for chilli-heads
We used to work very close to Ying Thai 2 (sadly, no more) and a return visit last night reminded me why we loved it so much (enough that we often lunched there twice a week!). It's good, inexpensive food that tastes fantastic. The service can be very ordinary at times (we've all got a LOT of stories) but we love it.

Just watch it if you don't like spicy food. Ying Thai's "mild" is most people's "medium", ask "medium" and you'll get "very hot", ask for "hot" and you'll get "can be used to power a nuclear submarine". It's great!

Student Hangout
A place of food solace for Thai students and international students alike, offering one of the widest options of having your food stir-fried with any type of meat you prefer, be it chicken, pork, beef or prawns while not busting the pocket. The meals are simple yet tasty, otherwise their sister branch (Ying Thai) in Abbotsford will satisfy those who crave a more formal atmosphere.

Great food but poor service
The food is great but maybe a bit too hot! The service is so bad that you have to wait so long to be served! Also, it's crowded and noisy!!
Anyway, food is really tasty!
