Ying Thai

The menu may feature standard Thai fare, but it's also dotted with some more unusual dishes. It's authentic Thai in unpretentious surrounds.

Go with low expectations for the service, and you'll be fine.
This place has the worst service I've ever experienced. Right from the start: we were offered a tiny table for 2 even though we had a reservation for 3; then we were sat at a table for 8 which had about 20 chairs pushed around it; menus were dumped down at the far end of the table, away from where we were sitting; we were left with our white wine sitting on the table and just water glasses; we couldn't get the waiters' attention for ages - they just kept looking through us; it was half an hour before we were brought wine glasses, water and an ice bucket (by this time we had drunk most of our now luke warm wine out of the water glasses). However once the food came we were in heaven - it was absolutely delicious. So now we are searching for another place which has food as good as Ying Thai, but better service - just about anything will be an improvement. Any suggestions?

Great food, service fine. Can be very spicy, but will be turned down upon request. I like the orange theme :)

Food worth going back for
I love Thai food even though I can't take anything spicy. But this joint has food that's worth getting heated up for. Unpretentious and totally authentic, the cha yen is exactly as I had remembered it to be during my holiday at Phuket. Many of the dishes are catered to non-spicy eaters like me, with favourites being the satay skewers, fish cake, pandan chicken, kailan with pork crackling, tom jurd lord moo (mixed pork soup) and the sweet & spicy deep-fried fish. The chinese sausage, tom yum koong and the larb are great for those who can take the heat. The service, however, could see some improvements. Nonetheless, being from overseas, my mum visits this restaurant every trip she comes.

I have never experienced such poor service. A real shame as the food is worth coming back for.
