Lorraine Godsmark and George Sinclair's bright venture Yellow combines a licensed bistro with food store. Salads are particularly good with offerings like spicy Indian vegetarian and gnocchi, pesto and parmesan and the desserts are spectacular. Don't leave without trying the coconut panna cotta with fresh mango or Lorraine's famous date tart.

Exceeded expectations
Last night I was surprised to have a scrumptious meal at Yellow. I had been for lunch once before and enjoyed the meal, but last night exceeded my expectations. I went with two friends. The ambiance was great. We had a lovely waiter who was perfectly attentive. We shared an entre - tomato and pomegranate salad - incredible! Such an interesting mix of flavours but delicious. My friend ate the sirloin, the other the fish, and I had the chicken. The menu is minimal but has everything you would want. We each were raving about our meal. I really recommend it, the price was perfect considering how good the food was (about $25-$32 for a main), the flavours divine. Will go again!

Autumn harvest at the yellow house
It was a wet and windy night as we walked the few short blocks to the yellow house ... enticed there by its bohemian reputation (albeit from the seventies!). Only tables available were outside - but we are from Tasmania, so no problems there. In fact, it was a beautiful evening and the outside location gave us the full Kings Cross experience. Our meals were fantastic ... fresh, cooked with care and attention giving plates full of fresh notes and flavours. Fish, chicken, oxtail ... quite a repertoire and all executed perfectly. Good service too.
