Complete with a boardwalk along the Yarra River, this restaurant delivers a distinctly Melbourne experience with its stellar views of the city skyline and its chic ultra-modern decor. Seated next to the Crown Casino, it's "Location, location, location!" for this contemporary Japanese/Korean restaurant, which offers a lunch sushi buffet, an a la carte dinner and a bar for evening drinks. Some of the culinary highlights include the Mandu and Seafood Parjeon, sushi, sashimi and tempura options, Korean barbecued beef and spicy barbecued pork, and anything from the Teppan grills.

Awesome place! very underrated
My friends and I were roaming around Southbank searching for a place which does not blow a hole in our pockets and is something worthwhile. We decided to try this place after reading some reviews online (get an iphone!) even after the place was empty. The food was delicious! Everything we ordered was finger licking good and we have hot and cold sake bottles one after the other. The staff were extremely polite, courteous and helpful and service was fast. I was stunned when the waitress opened a brand new bottle of sake just so that we could sample it before we order. I would definitely go back to this place - best Korean/Japanese in town for sure!

Best Korean in Melbourne
I've been to a lot of Korean restaurants in Melbourne, and this is definitely the prettiest. Nice location, good view, lovely decor and friendly service. Not what you usually get from a Korean restaurant. The food is really yummy as well. Definitely the best Korean restaurant I've been to in Melbourne.

A great night out
I had a wonderful time and the food was lovely. I had the Korean Beef BBq and I also loved the sake, yum. Great atmosphere as well, right on the Yarra. Unbelievably, Melbourne people have not flocked to this little gem yet. It was a great night for my birthday. Thank you to all the staff at Yar. I'll be back for sure.

undiscovered gem
My friend and I have been going to Yar once every couple of weeks for the last 8 months. The food it yum and the price is right,we always get stuck with the same dilemma- order our favourites, or try something new that is surely equally as delicious. I totally don't get why it hasn't been embraced by Melbourne yet. we can never get past the soft shell crab roll- but other faves are crispy snapper, arl tang and the Korean steak tartare: awesome. This place is usually filled with Asians (I'm also Asian), this has gotta be a good sign.

A surprise
My husband and I decided to try Yar on a whim and we were not disappointed. It was quiet the night we went in, but service was attentive and friendly, if at times confusing as the waitress spoke limited English. The food however was delicious - we both tried the Yar special bento box, which allowed us to try a bit of this and that - the rib eye was especially good. Next time, I'm definitely getting the rib eye as my main. Didn't get to try anything Korean, but the food to the other tables looked interesting. Surprisingly good.
