You can't miss the teal blue exterior of this building, although the old lettering of the Royal Oak might be confusing if you hadn't already seen the abundant signage for the Worldsend Hotel. Once you've wet your whistle at the bar, look above the bartender's shoulder - to the left for the list of wines by the glass, or to the rear for the menu - and make your way to the dining room. The menu is full of smartly cooked but familiar comfort food. The nachos are a favourite of regulars, but the most popular dish is the salt and pepper squid - the light batter is well dusted with lashings of seasoning. So, sit back, enjoy a cold glass of James Squire's, and wait just a moment for the food to arrive. They're just cleaning the squid now.

Surprisingly good food!
I admit I went to dinner reluctantly, feeling the food is not really what this pub is all about but I came out pleasantly surprised with the quality of pub food. I ordered the steak with peppercorn brandy sauce and wedges and was delighted with the tenderness of the meat and tastiness of the sauce! On our table we also had the steak sandwhich which had a yummy, smokey bacon, the salt'n'pepper squid was tender and apparently the chicken salad was alright as well! For 4 different meals to all come out winners in their own right was very surprising! Prices were on par with other pubs and although I wouldn't eat there all the time it was a great experience and one I'm glad I had.

We keep on going back..
A good selection of really yummy pub food. I've been quite a few times for dinner & lunch and have tried a lot of the menu items. All delicious! The staff are very friendly, too, and the service very quick. I occasionally eat here during my half hour lunch break and always make it back to work in time :)
