Overated, disappointed and over priced nothing spectacular. Don't rush to go there!
Had dinner 16/7/11. The restaurant itself is nice. In my opinion it is not value for money. If you order steak you only get steak on the plate. If you want extra ie: chips, salad etc that is an additional cost. Pricing is unreasonable. Steak was nice but was cold by the time it got to our table. Some of the staff have heavy accents which makes it difficult to understand. REVIEW your bill as you will be charged extra for things you either did not ask for or they upsize it and you think you are paying for a small (drink, serviing or what have you)For what I have heard about the place i expected more professionalism / experience from the staff. I waited over 45 mins for the wine list. I am disappointed and will not return. Cockle Bay anyday in terms of value for money, service and honesty. Oh and they did not advise me of the childrens menu. I had to ask and when they took they order they did not take my childs order

Good for the view
Arrived to be seated at a window seat, overlooking the harbour, opera house and having booked that day felt great. Waiter was nice, advised us well, and we enjoyed the entrees. Main was steak - it arrives European style alone on the plate just a slab of meat. They did cook a medium/rare well, but I warned the waiter I grow my own vegetables and love them. They were miserable, both in quantity and quality (beans should be crisp, not soggy and the size of a bowl of beans for four was absurd). The wine list only seemed overpriced and wine waiter had serious nose in the air attitude. I managed to find a bottle for (just) under $60 - in Australia that is a disgrace but did enjoy it. My desert (chocolate moose called by another fancier name)was great, however the coffee was burnt. Left feeling it was a special night for the host ($500 for 4), but we wont be back.

Disappointment
On the 27th March Wildfire Restaurant took part in Earth Hour. We thought we would take advantage and support the cause with a highly regarded restaurant. Booking was for 8:30 for 2 people and we arrived at 8:20 to ensure we were seated as soon as possible. On arrival we were advised that our table would be 10 minutes and they ushered us into the bar to have a drink. Here is where it gets interesting, they never remember you and you really do not feel like they want you there. At 8:40 we asked how long our table would be and the reply was 2 minutes. After waiting 30 minutes to be seated, I asked for the manager and told him of our dissatisfaction on the service and it felt like he too could not care less, but at least he organised a table by 9pm. Our table was located on the mezzanine level and to our amazement there were roughly 12 empty tables. If you ask me, that is pathetic service and the customer is not cared for.

But on the plus side the food is good, but if you get the Churrasco menu, be prepared to wait in between food items and be prepared not to eat $70 worth either.

Personally I will not be going back to Wildfire as first impressions last and nothing was provide to use to make up for the woeful error.

view to die for
We could not have asked for better seating, the view of the opera house and the ferries coming back and forth was wonderful in itself. We ordered the WOOD FIRED CHURRASCO. The Tapas being part of the Churrasco was nothing to rave about, the wood fire meats were exceptional, but a few woodfired vegetables would not have gone astray.
We booked for 6.00pm and when we arrived 10 minutes early, the restaurant was not opened and customers were on the footpath waiting, a few people tried the door to find it locked, us included. The Restaurant opened their doors around 6.05pm. Customers (especially in their finery) do not like to hang around the footpath (like a department sale) waiting for restaurant doors to open.

What a disappointment!
I'd heard wonderful things about Wildfire, so I was acutely disappointed when it did not live up to its hype.

For entree I had four tapas of the sea. It was mediocre. Nothing exciting nor offensive, except the soft-shell crab was deep-fried and wasn't crisp, it was soggy. I was eagerly anticipating a smashing main course to make up for the disappointing entree.

My main course was crayfish - crayfish crayfish. Not even mediocre. It was bland. It was overcooked. It was fishy tasting (and not in a good way) and the bright orange reduction that the meat sat in tasted revolting.

An eager consumer of desserts, I opted out his time, fearing that I may experience another ordeal. I did however, have a coffee. It was very nice. Best thing about the meal. A sad indictment.

The service also left much to be desired. Waiters cleared plates before all at the table had finished their meal. The huge serving trays necessitated two waiters to serve meals one to transfer from tray to table and one to hold aforementioned tray. For both entree and main the tray waiter was lingering at our table for several minutes before the serving waiter appeared. Very odd, almost felt we should help him or perhaps include him in our conversation!

Needless to say, I won't be going back to Wildfire.

Mmmm
Entrees were delish. We literally had a slab of meat for our dinner...it's a shame there was nothing to accompany, so we had to order a salad as well. Main meal was amazing. Will return for sure. I always recommend this place to friends.
