White Salt

Just a sandy-footed hop, skip and jump from beautiful Sorrento Beach, with sweeping views of the Indian Ocean, it proffers a casual but classy cafe style by day and informal fine dining by night. Scanning the prices on the menu, you wouldn't expect a cordon bleu-trained chef to be at the helm behind the scenes. However, the awe-inspiring presentation is a real giveaway. You won't know whether to photograph or eat the beef cappaccio, but everything from the signature grilled rack of lamb to the chocolate fondue is without pretension. At breakfast, there's a choice of ingredients for you to design your own brekkie. That is unless you're lured by the Sunrise Breakfast or freshly cut fruit platter. At lunch, the tapas selection is so generously sized, it positively fills the table, and in the evening, you can dip delicious breads and sip fine Australasian wines from the restaurant's exquisite list.

Great Spot
Great location. Lovely, friendly, efficient service. Generally food was good. My husband was a little disappointed with the size of his steak. The paella was interesting, a mound of saffron rice with seafood and chorizo in tomato-based sauce piled on top. Outrageously overpriced beer ($6 for a middy of Heineken!). Having said all this, we would certainly go back if we were in the area.

Lack of front-of-house leadership made for a haphazard evening. Lack of the head chef in the kitchen that night made for "hit and miss" food. All in all, it was an enjoyable night, which could have been so much more memorable. On the way home all our party could really rave about was the stunning views that the restaurant affords. Still it hasn't deterred us, we will return. Good luck.

Good Bruncher
We've had brunch here a time or two and it's decent fare with friendly staff. Definitely worth a go if you're in the area, I'll have to try dinner - shame it's not a BYO being next to the bottle shop, but you can't have everything.

Fantastic Night
White Salt is definitely the place to wine and dine this summer. The place has a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere. Dinner at White Salt was fantastic, very good wine and amazing dishes. Very classical recipes. It will have you coming back for more, even if it’s a glass of wine or chocolate fondue for two.
