Kitschy and quaint and homelike and fun, this place appeals first because it's so gosh darn cute, and then, once you're in and settled and hoeing into a feast of a brekkie or lunch, because it's a genuine foodie's delight. The menu changes often, but you could find yourself faced with the dilemma of choosing between a hearty ploughman's lunch of pork pie, cheddar cheese, pickles and salad, a zesty warm octopus salad with fennel, orange, chilli and green beans and a rich (definitely in a good way) spaghetti with confit duck, foie gras butter and apples.
By night, the laidback, child-friendly spot the WED was by day is no longer, and the place transforms into a sophisticated restaurant with dimmed lighting and crisp tablecloths. For now it's BYO only, but stay tuned for a pending liquor licence and watch this already much-loved cafe soar to new heights.
