A very nice sounding vego burger - filled with house-made felafel, melted cheese, salad and tzatziki - is as far as vegetable-based mains go here; the rest are all about meat. It's good quality meat at that; even the 'Wellyburger' boasts 100 percent Angus beef - and the bacon, egg, fried onion, cheese, salad, beetroot relish and fries that accompany it also explain its popularity as a partner to a pint of your favourite brew.
The Welly 'tap and grill' pours Coopers, Tooheys and James Squire ranges for you to enjoy with your choice of prime steak. Meaty cuts include Coorong Angus and Samurai Wagyu beef, with sizes ranging from a 200 gram fillet and a 400 gram ribeye to a meatosaurus-sized 1kg T-bone. Served with fresh garden salads, you will not be left wanting.
Speaking of greenery, the dining room at the Wellington is set in a gorgeous atrium, with luscious ferns and floods of sunlight making for a relaxing visit. Fish and chips, and salt and pepper squid, are the two predictable seafood dishes available. Mustard and cheddar bread is a good side option, and desserts tease with the Welly's 'adults only' sundae - hot chocolate fudge is tickled with a touch of liquor and fresh roasted nuts are sprinkled over vanilla ice cream.
