There's something so therapeutic about feeling the warm caress of the sea breeze, and letting the sound of crashing waves wash over you. Located in the Frankston Lifesaving Club, Waves On The Beach delivers these sensations from its privileged position on Frankston Beach, overlooking the beautiful Port Phillip Bay from its bright and elegant dining room and balcony. But there's more to Waves than just the, well, waves. The modern international menu encompasses a diverse array of flavours and influences, such as mod-Oz seafood like the barbecued fisherman's catch, Mediterranean-style pastas and risottos, and pan-Asian bites like seafood and meat dumplings. Separate menus are even available for coeliacs and vegetarians, so no-one gets left out of the fun.

Food was good
Upon arrival my husband and I were seated next to a large, very loud bunch of mothers and their children even though there were other more secluded tables available. We ordered and were soon tempted to leave the restaurant just to escape the noise - a combination of bad acoustics and loud group on the next table killed atmosphere completely.
One of the mothers at the next table then knocked over their ice bucket and sent ice and water all over our shoes and pants (thankfully they had already polished off the wine, so there was no bottle to fall and smash). Staff were unapologetic and did little to help us tidy up the mess, making one weak attempt to wipe up some of the puddles of water from around our feet (while the entire restaurant stared - very embarassing)then wandering off. We were not offered another table and our complaints of wet shoes and pants were ignored.
Luckily just as we stood up to walk out in disgust our our meals arrived and they were good enough to convince us to stay long enough to eat. Although the food was sensational I don't know whether it was good enough to convince me to return after such an experience.
