With its stunning riverside location, Watt provides a sanctuary of great food, service and atmosphere. The gorgeous outdoor terrace is perfect for lunch and those warmer evenings, plus there's a more elegant formal dining area inside. The focus on regional fare and seafood with matching wines is outstanding, and the seared scallops and pork belly served with sweet chilli caramel sauce is a winner.

Watt - back in top form
We have dined here many times over many years and the service and food has varied between exceptionally good to average, with the last few times being average. However, this last experience was back to being really great like it used to be many years ago with excellent service and interesting dishes with flair.
The Ma?tre de seated us outside in winter, but there were plenty of heaters to keep you toasty. In fact it was that warm we moved tables.
There were a few things on the menu that we asked about and the Ma?tre de provided a knowledgeable explanation and then proceeded to tell us more about the menu items as well. We were impressed by this information and that he had actually experienced all the food himself. It is very rare to find that level of commitment to the job. Note that this was mid week and there were a very modest number of diners while we were there.
We were swayed by his recommendations and enjoyed everything served to us. Forgive me but I cannot recall the exact names of the dishes and Watt currently do not have a menu online for me to refer to. First we were each presented with a small cup of very tasty curry soup. Delicious! Next were the small special bread we ordered, which was extremely tasty and not the usual floury type.
Entree. My wife had Salmon which was done in a raw pickled fashion and was delightful. I had a dish of petite veggies and mushrooms which was beautifully arranged and was also very enjoyable. For mains we both had the Duck which was cooked to perfection. The young waiter that delivered many of our dishes conducted himself in a professional and friendly manner.
During dinner I commented to my wife that the music was awful and very distracting. I mentioned this to the Maitre de and to our surprise he cheerfully and immediately changed the music to something more palatable. The atmosphere rating would have been much higher if we d had the music changed earlier.
We ran out of time to try the deserts as we had tickets for a show afterwards. So we opted for an after dinner wine that the Ma?tre de recommended. It was a style we had not tasted before but was an excellent choice to complete this truly delightful dining experience. The Ma?tre de also attended to the bill while we enjoyed our wine so that we would not be delayed getting to the show.
We felt that the pricing was very reasonable for the quality of food and service. If only more dining experiences were like this.

Not quite
Were keen for breakfast with a water view so headed to Watt - without a reservation late Sunday morning. The fact that we didn't have a reservation didn't help with management & staff on entry but the hospitality improved with our male waiter. Breakfast was nice enough but priced for the view.

First class customer service
Very pleased with the level of service, very well presented food, however not quite to my taste. Always good to try something new though! Highly recommended.

Great Service, Great Cuisine
As a first-time visitor to Brisbane, I was in search of a good restaurant so had to do a bit of hunting around before I stumbled across Watt, and only came across it after some suggestions from a local friend. The Brisbane River and the Powerhouse provides a great backdrop to take advantage of the great views and dining experience.
While the wait staff were well presented and attentive to the customers’ needs, a newer member of staff who was handling our table for the evening needed to pay slightly more attention to customer questions and information. My dining partner for the evening suffers from an allergic reaction to chilli and despite this being specifically mentioned prior to ordering, this was not picked up. As a consequence of the staff member not being aware of the dish’s contents and not confirming information with the kitchen, she received a dish containing the offending allergen. However, this was quickly rectified and the staff provided a substitute dish promptly.
Food was well presented with significant care being taken to ensure each of the ingredients came into their own with the stunning dishes ordered. Pricing was also very reasonable and commensurate with the quality of product on offer. I was significantly surprised by the Darling Downs wagyu rump served with hand-cut chips and barbecued asparagus.
