Wagamama - Subiaco

Apparently a noodle loving nation, Australia seems to be embracing the wave of Wagamamas sweeping the country, with another venue up and running on the west side. Easy to understand menus and a more than sufficient wine list means this is a great way to increase your appreciation for Asian fare, especially that of the noodle variety.

Funky but chaotic and slow service
We have probably been to Wagamama Subi about 6 or 8 times. the atmosphere is good and everyone seems to be having a good time. BUT the sequencing of food & drinks coming out is very poor. There can be 20 minutes between the first drink coming out for one member of the party and the last getting their drink. There were only 5 of us. There was a similar delay between the first main and the last main. We needed to remind++ that some members of our party did not have their food. The wait staff were pleasant but were under the pump. Wagamama management needs to have a good look at the way their restaurant works and make sure have enough staff and an organised kitchen.

Nice and Handy fresh food
I moved to Subiaco a couple of months ago and was so happy with the fact that Wagamama was just around the corner.
I eat there at least once a week and I never tire of their tasty dishes.
I think out of the 20+ times I've been there, there have only been a couple of times when the food hasn't been up to scratch but in general, it's pretty good.
The spicy chicken itame is my favourite where although I love the chicken, the vegetables seem to absorb all of the flavours in the cooking process and when you bite them the flavours burst in your mouth.
The starters are great too with the sweet potato kusabi and the chilli and garlic edamame my favourite.
It depends on the mood I'm in but both Asahi and their good choice of Rosabrook wine compliments the 'zing' of their dishes.
I think Wagamama is good value and particularly good if you want to dine quickly and eat good food!

still the best
My partner and I recently had lunch at wagamama in subiaco and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. We are both familair with the place as we lived an the uk for a couple of years and would regularly eat there. The store in subiaco is doing a great job at keeping us happy.

I had the miso ramen. It was a cold night when we went and this meal did the perfect job at keeping me warm. The miso broth has a slight tangy flavour and there were plent of ingrediants to keep my chopsticks dishing for more. my partner had the teriyaki salmon and it was as good in flavour as it was in presentation. Our server Jess was excellent and suggested the banana katsu to share for desert. brilliant!! thank you wagamama, we will be back and with friends.

Stingymama
Six months ago we would have given Wagamama a nicer rating because once upon a time we got better value for money. My husband and I whom have been loyal customers since it opened were very disappointed on our last occasion, despite hearing they have become tighter than a duck's bum, we went anyway. My husband ordered a raman soup which said on the menu seafood and chicken. All he found was a mass of white noodles and broth with one lonely prawn and two pieces of fish the size of a small fingernail. My beef salad had four tiny bits of beef in it and no sweet potato as mentioned, lost in a huge forrest of spinach leaves. We will not be back. Lift your game Wagamama. Bring back the beef!

A great new concept in fine dining
Wagamama's interior looks like an upscale cafeteria with food as good as any high class restaurant. On this paticular visit we had to wait some time before placing an order, but I believe we were the exception to the rule. Others dining next to us recieved service promptly. The food was affordable, delicious and delivered fast. The menu is full of options to satisfy pick eaters (e.g. me). The mud cake and ice cream with wasabi sauce is suprisingly incredible. The entire concept of Wagamama's make you think 'Why didn't I think of this first?'. It's efficient, comfortable, upmarket and I'm guessing very profitable. I plan on being a very frequent customer and their 'loyalty points scheme' make it all the more enticing.
