For those not already familiar with the Wagamama concept, this widespread chain of eateries provides an excellent introduction to Asian dining. Forget scary menus of unfamiliar dishes; the menu here provides a sampling of the best dishes from various regions of Asia, describing each in user-friendly detail. Aside from the food, Wagamama's sleek, trendy restaurant design sees strangers dining shoulder-to-shoulder at long wooden communal tables, sipping sake and exclaiming over edamame.

Fantastic dinner
We celebrated our daughter's 21st birthday at Wagamama's at the Emporium on Monday, 16 March. We were extremely impressed - we had never dined there before and the waiter navigated us through the menu and recommended certain dishes for their spiciness etc. Our meals arrived promptly and were delicious. We will certainly be going back.

Communication to customers MIA.
I decided to take the kids, aged nearly 3 & 4, to Wagamama Chermside for a lunch time treat and it was quite an experience, and certainly not a good one. I chose the restaurant as it is okay for price, had a kid-friendly deal going, and based on previous experiences, had been fairly prompt to serve meals.
We were the first customers to arrive and were seated fairly promptly and the kids given their colouring in accordingly. So far so good. However, 45 minutes later the kids and my meals had still not arrived. Customers around us, who arrived sometime after us, were receiving their meals without a problem. I asked a waiter what was going on and he then asked our regular waitress who appeared to chase it all up. Eventually after I saw her dashing around, she returned to our table and told us that the grill had broken, so hence the delay. My salad was to arrive with the kids meals, so that is why meal had also not arrived apparently. Pity that they could not have told me when the grill had broken at the time or when they realised it would affect orders, and offered an alternative. It was too late to reorder anything. Not long after my complaint, my salad arrived and just after an hour of waiting, the kids meals finally came to the table. But my youngest was much too cranky to eat anything by then.
I think that the problem may not have been as bad, had the staff let me know earlier what was going on, and offered an alternative. It was the lack of communication and intiative about the matter, that bothered me more than anything.

Unpredictable
We've had some really great meals at Wagamama and some really really disappointing meals. I think part of Wagamama's problem is they are trying to be too cool. We go because they are reasonably cheap and reasonably healthy, but sometimes we wish we'd stayed at home and had toast. I can remember more than one occasion where I have counted no less than eight floor staff, and sparse amount of customers, yet it seems to take forever to get served and for your food to arrive. One of the other reviewers seems to think its quirky and cool that food comes at different times - Wagamama call this a new concept in dining, I think it's just a cop-out for good service. It's hard work and good timing to ensure that everyone gets their meal at the same time, and, frankly, I don't want everyone to 'share' my soup. Mine. All mine.
If Wagamama picked up their act a little, we'd go more often. The garlic chili edamame rocks.

How to spoil a girl's birthday
It was my birthday. I had reserved seating for 20 guests. They mixed up orders. All guests were served and their plates cleared from the tables before I was even served. I had to eat alone while everyone waited for me to finish my meal. I felt so embarrassed. I would have had better service at McDonald's. Shame.

Fast dining
Good place to go for a quick meal with friends/partner after work. Great service, weird dining concept, meals come out at all different times, sometimes mains come out before entrees and one main meal will come out, and the other will follow 5-10mins later. Recommend the gyoza and green soya beans with rock salt for entree and for mains, the chicken/beef teriyaki is beauitful. A very extensive menu, have been here about 5 times now, trying to work my way through the menu.

Don't go there girlfriend!
Once you had authentic noodles, you'd start to realise this place really sucks, overpriced, under-salted dishes.
