Vue Lounge

Famous for its great coffee, this popular eatery serves up cafe-style meals by day and more refined, Italian fare after dark. The breakfast burrito is a popular choice with a morning coffee, while for dinner, the slow-baked lamb shanks are a particular specialty.

Breaky at Vue Lounge
I heard some good reviews about Vue Lounge so when the wife and I had a chance to get some breaky on a day off, we decided to check it out.....thought it might be difficult to find amoungst the all the shops at New Farm....but it was well signed from the road.....easy parking at the coles shopping centre next to the building.....went in and place was busy....a good sign....staff were busy....asked the waitress if we just find a table ourselves...she said yes and she was right over to get a coffee order....could of come over with a smile on her face it may have helped....that's ok we all can't be on top of the world every minute of the day.....one thing I did notice when we were walking over to find a table...someone said hi how are you going which I looked around and found it came from the guy behind the desk making the coffee....wow I was suprised...it was a welcome relief as usually these people think they are beyond talking to customers because they think they are too cool....it was such a refreshing welcome.....anyway coffee was exceptional...my eggs benidict were to die for....service from the girls got a lot better as the morning went on....and when we left the same guy making the coffee said goodbye....well that just topped it off....everyone asked us how was the meal...we were so impressed we decided to go to the owners' other business di bella coffee at windsor...and well no wonder they are all doing so well....that story is for another day....enjoy

Vue Lounge - First and Last Visit
We have just got back from a very disappointing experience at Vue Lounge.

So disappointing it prompted me to submit this - my first ever restaurant review as a way of expressing my anger.

As has already said by a previous reviewer, the service was very much hit and miss. And we were in the 'miss' category tonight. The waitress looked like she'd .......well I don't know a good analogy for what her scowl represented. She should have taken the night off instead of spreading her misery to us.

The food was average, and the portions miniscule.

And, we actually discussed getting up and walking out after waiting so long for our mains....very simple dishes that should not have taken half as long as they took.

There is much better fare and value out there for mine.

Good luck.

The coffee kicks but...
Oh what a shame, the coffee here is brilliant, consistant as it should be as Di Bella's home cafe, the espresso smoothie is a winner on a hot day and the cake cabinet is very tempting.

But the service is very hit and miss during the day, you can wait ages just to get a menu.

What breakfast should be
One of the things I love is finding a great place for breakfast. It's a tricky achievement finding somewhere that meets what I think a great breakfast place should be. It needs to offer:
a) Great comfort food at a reasonable price
b) Something a bit different than the standard fried eggs and bacon
c) An opportunity to sit back, relax and linger
and the most important
d) GREAT COFFEE!

Vue has managed to achieve all of this especially in the coffee department, as Vue is the brainchild of Phil DiBella and his wife. For those that may not be aware, Phil owns, what I believe, is one of the best coffee roasting companies in Australia, DiBella Coffee and as a result you will usually find him helping to turn out a fantastic coffee from behind the bar. The food is perfectly matched for a breakfast with a twist, especially the breakfast burrito, and if you grab a newspaper from the local stationers and settle in, you will find your morning quickly disappearing and not minding a bit.
