Viet Star


Viet Star has a big word-of-mouth reputation among Melbourne diners in the know. The decor is austere and understated, with long mirrored walls, tiled floors, amber lanterns and a bubbling goldfish tank the only adornments in a long dimly lit space. The Vietnamese coleslaw salads complementing a massive selection of seafood dishes where prawn, squid, scallops and sweet and sour battered fish combine swimmingly with cashew nuts, satay, sizzling chilli, ginger and lemongrass. Chef Alice Ky also extends the menu into other south-east Asian-influenced recipes such as curry Shanghai beef; steamed duck stuffed with seafood; and Cantonese-style sweet and sour pork.
