Appropriately set in the European-style Hardware Lane, Vialetto announces its presence with a cluster of alfresco tables, linen aflutter in the breeze. If it is a bit too brisk to dine street-side, the sunken interior of the restaurant has its own attractions. Simply furnished with cute green lamps hanging from the ceiling, a seat at the right table offers views of suit-clad legs scissoring past the window - which if nothing else, allows for peeking at the shoes of passers-by between courses. The menu itself is unashamedly Italian, but goes beyond the ubiquitous pizza (although there are a couple of woodfired examples on the menu) and creamy pastas to include deceptively simple Italian style mains, such as calamari tubes stuffed with spinach, prawn and sun-dried tomato. The addition of occasional live jazz adds a mellow, ambient touch.

don't waste your money
I'd rather not spend too much time talking about a restaurant that offers a discount that refuses to provide because of their own clauses and hidden charges.
you know a restaurant is not worth attending when there's ppl outside trying to get you in and secondly they bring you the bill before you have asked for it.
avoid.

"Complimentary Wine" Bait and Switch
Having guests from over seas with me I decided to take them to Hardware Lane for dinner. As we walked down the lane many of the restaurants there offered a free glass of wine with your meal and the menus looked great. So we were considering a few restaurants there. We thought we may check out Vialetto as I had a voucher from the entertainment book. Out the front of Vialetto the spruiker offered us a complimentary bottle of wine with our meals if we decided to have dinner there. So we thought , why not try it....The food was below average and the free bottle was a cheap house wine, but we were told it would be free so we didn't expected a high quality wine. The tables were very small and the seating was a tight fit, but all in all we were happy with the prompt service and the atmosphere of Hardware lane. At the end of the evening we were disappointed to discover that the manager (Russian lady) wanted to charge us $20 for the free wine because we had a 25% off Entertainment guide discount voucher for our meals. The man who offered us the wine came over and said that he had offered it to us as "complimentary" so we shouldn't be charged. But the manager made us feel very uncomfortable and even though she eventually decided to let us use our voucher discount and included the complimentary wine we will not be going back. We never had the chance to choose which wine we would have and we were appalled at the way she handled the situation.
