Lygon Street, or "Little Italy" as it is known to many a Melburnian, just wouldn't be the same without the bruschetta, gnocchi and tiramisu that characterises the traditional cultural heritage. Via Veneto is one of the key family- and group-friendly Italian eateries of the area, presenting a warmly rustic dining room for intimate nights in, and a casual alfresco area on the footpath for livelier nights out. Starting with oysters, mushrooms, crepes and antipasto, the menu moves on to cover possibly any Italian pasta or pizza gem you can think of, ranging from linguini and rigatoni to Calabrese. Of course, you'll find veal, beef, chicken, lamb and seafood specialties by the tonne, along with around a dozen desserts to drool over (and yes, there's tiramisu!).
