French provincial with an Australian touch
Great atmosphere as soon as you enter, with a warm welcome. There is a well stocked bar to sit at before you eat and a short but very attractive menu with a short list of regular dishes and several interesting specials for variety, although sadly, no offal. The wine list has depth and there is a good array of wines by the glass. The service was excellent although all the waiters appeared to be Australian and although their culinary knowledge was not quite up to their Gallic cousins, they made up for it with their efficiency and gentle humour. As for the food, my partner and I both thought Vera was as good a French restaurant as we have tried in Melbourne. This is one we will visit again and again.
