A slick renovation has seen Veludo's bar move upstairs, where bands and DJs keep the crowds flowing in on weekends, while the restaurant has taken over the ground floor, spilling out onto Acland Street. The menu crosses the international spectrum with options from mussels with coriander, tomato and chilli; to a selection of Moroccan tagines. Breakfast runs until the civilised time of 3.30pm, with amusing options including green eggs and ham; and the 'Big Fat Pommy Bastard' breakfast.

Best pasta in Acland St?
My friend and I dined on a busy Saturday night. The service was adequate given the amount of other customers around, and we ordered the Ravioli and Gnocchi to share. The wine we ordered was sound, but the pastas were fantastic. Good value all round, well done!

Brisk
Four of us rocked into this place on a Sunday. Like most places in St Kilda on the weekend, the place was pumping. However we scored a table and quickly had drink orders taken. After being given the dinner menus by mistake, we were glad to see it was still brunch hours.
The chicken burger was ok-basically just a chicken breast, avacado, mayo and rocket. The banana bread was fantastic and our pregnant friend couldn't even finish the Fat Pommy Bastard! Service was friendly and upbeat. I asked for the bill but seemed to have been forgotten about so we sat for another 30 mins just chatting until the bill arrived. Meanwhile a long queue had formed outside so they must have started to look at who they could clear out.

Impressed!
Was walking past and liked the look of the place, especially the fireplace! Came super hungry, left super full! Staff were fabulous, actually had a bit of a laugh with a couple of them. Food was really tasty. Am thinking about booking my engagement party upstairs, so well done!!

Poor Service & Bad Steak
My wife and I attended this place for dinner during a heat wave and found out the air conditioner was broken. I ordered the Wagyu steak (medium) and she ordered the seafood spaghetti. 40 minutes later, I asked where I food was, and was told "any minute now". We finally got our food about 50 minutes after ordering it.
Although the spaghetti was of good quality, the steak was just woeful.
The steak which I ordered to be made medium was nearly well done, extremely tough, chewy and frankly would be an embarrassment to any self respecting chef. Further, I am fairly certain that the steak which was advertised as Wagyu beef, was in fact not Wagyu beef.
Never eating at this poor excuse of a restuarant again.

Great place!
Stopped in here for a mid morning coffee and found the place to be buzzing - quite busy out the front with people watchers, and inside was slowly filling up. Service was great, friendly and quick and the coffee was amazing, really did it's job. We also ordered some toasted fruit bread which was divine. Would return without hestitation.

Poor Service / Food took over an hour
I and a few friends went to catch up for lunch on New Year's Day, and let me just say how disappointed I was with the service. We understood they would be busy, but they did not tell is it would be more than 30 minutes before the first of five meals came out. We then proceeded to wait an extra 20 minutes for the second meal - by the time the third, fourth and fifth meals were ready, we cancelled.
At least inform customers of a potential delay prior to seating them, taking their food orders and their money!
Won't be back anytime soon
