It's no surprise that this Lygon Street eatery has an Italian theme, but what makes it unique on this Mediterranean-dominated strip is the all-vegetarian menu. But instead of your standard lentil overload, this joint serves wholesome versions of Italian faves. The airy dining space is decorated with harvest-themed ornaments, which are a down-to-earth match for the all-natural menu.
The dishes are finely textured and subtly spiced, from the stuffed capsicum with a rocket explosion salad, to the mouth-watering vegetable lasagne with sauteed zucchini and salsa, and the signature eggplant parmiggiana. The emphasis is on providing healthy and ethically prepared dishes, using fresh local ingredients. Strict vegetarians can rest easy with the guarantee that cheeses are rennet-free. Gluten-free and vegan desserts, such as raspberry chocolate cake, are on the menu, as well as Italian-style hot chocolate, coffee, tea and loose-leaf chai tea, organic bottled juices, fresh juices and smoothies.
