Vatel


It is virtually impossible to get good French food at these sorts of prices, and from the way this little restaurant gets packed out, it seems that the locals know just how lucky they are. What with the bustle of the open kitchen and the loud exclamations of delight from the customers, it can get quite rowdy in Vatel but chef Philippe Pinson's dishes are worth a bit of noise. Dishes such as the blue swimmer crab spaghettini with rockfish stock, garlic and chilli or the twice-roasted pork belly have regulars salivating in anticipation, and distraught if they are not on the menu that day.
