Making a ravishing debut in Brisbane in late 2009, this unique double-levelled pizza, pasta and salad bar is modelled on the successful US and European chains of Vapiano restaurants. The point of difference is that Vapiano's pastas are handmade, the pizzas are completely made to order, and the herbs come freshly grown in pots inside the restaurant. Adding to its fresh and authentic credentials, this eatery sources much of its produce from within a 150km radius, so you're supporting local Queensland businesses by just a mere crunch of a calzone or slurp of spaghetti.

Great restaurant but be prepared to line up
Vapiano's is great in theory. It's fresh, new, the food is wonderful and the prices are good but I've been twice now and each time I've had to wait a good 20 mins in line for my food as you wait for your pasta while it cooks. The pasta's don't take long to cook cause it's fresh and it is good seeing what they're doing but on a Friday out with work friends I really prefer waiting for my meal to be delivered and have a break. This time I tried a Thursday lunch time at about 12.30pm and it was packed. I had to line up to get in, I was three people back to order my pasta and there was only one guy upstairs serving drinks so once again had to wait because the man in front of me ordered coffees!!! Overall, I love the idea of Vapiano's but it's busy and I don't want to spend half of my lunch hour, waiting in line! Kind of defeats the purpose of going to lunch. The pizza's here are good and the pasta Funghi is amazing if you love muchrooms! Next time I'll try a mid-week dinner or late lunch to ensure there are less lines and a table is easier to find!

Can't handle crowds
I had visited Vapiano as a couple several times and thoroughly enjoyed the experience, but recently visited with a booked group of 22 people and had a very poor experience. The staff firstly messed up the booking, which meant the group was split between several tables, not the one large table as specifically booked, then were indifferent and belittling when questioned about it. The manager consistently badgered us all evening to see if he could take back one of the three tables they allocated us and give it to other patrons because they were incapable of managing the large number of diners. The food was good but the night was ruined by poor staffing and management. I wouldn't recommend this place for groups bigger than 2.
