Set a little back from the beach, this cafe is worth making the short stroll from the water for a post-swim coffee, weighty plate of pancakes or a quick pastry on the run. The simple space is wide open to the street, offering a vibrant view while you eat.

My Sunday Lunch
I am not one to complain, but last Sunday when I attended brunch with my father I was very displeased with our choice of restaurant. Our waitress was very rude and rarely came to our table. She told us that lunch was not served until 12 o'clock but when the table next to us asked if they could order lunch they allowed it. The service was horrendous. The lady at the cash register messed up our bill. And to top it all off... she was rude, too!! I'd say the only good thing about this restaurant is their good-looking waiters! But I assure you, I will definitely not be returning.

Not what it used to be...
A busy Sunday brunch and the vibe was what we have always come to expect over the years we have been attending this reputable venue... However today we were disappointed with a 45 minute wait for breakfast (with tables who walked in after we ordered getting served well before us), a waitress who displayed little to no concern for service and food that arrived cold for 3 out of 5 of dishes ordered. With mumbled apologies as we walked out and a discount that didn't even cover the coffees it was completely substandard.
I'd advise giving it a miss for a few months and hope that with enough disgruntled regulars the owners will pull their staff back up to standard.

Reservation recommended
Vans has a reputation for dishing up a fantastic breakfast and dinner is no different. On a Wednesday evening without a reservation, getting a table inside proved to be quite difficult!
On a quieter night (if this ever were to occur at Vans), I'm sure the service would have been faster. However once obtaining the attention of wait staff, they were most attentive and knew the menu well. The menu is simple and the portions are on the smaller side, and although a side dish is required it was on the whole a good experience.
