Disappointed Japanese food-lover
Having read a few good reviews about Tsukasa, we expected great food, with great Japanese service. It wasn't all bad, but overall, a disappointing average. The serving dish of the deluxe sashimi platter was big, but the sashimi was incredibly tiny and the tempura, while hot, the batter was heavy. The grilled octopus and ox tongue were both enjoyable. But there was no atmosphere and the decor could do with a good clean. Not bad, but not worth raving about.

A favourite of mine
Having worked in the East Sydney region for 4 years I have dined often at Tsukasa for both lunch and dinner. It is one of those venues where you need to look past the decor ('80s schoolroom comes to mind) or the decorations (hand drawn specials signs and esibu cloth banners) and concentrate on the food. Friday night's late meal included soft shell crab and barbecue ox tongue which to me are some of the best in Sydney. Tsukasa gets my vote as a good solid venue where you know what to expect and you get it everytime!
