With its Old World charms and stylish eccentricities, Trappist brings a very welcome new dimension to the already-bursting dining precinct of King Street. Eclectic cafes and trendy shops King Street has in spades, but a sophisticated little wine and tapas bar? Well, it does now.
Taking its name from the particular style of beer brewed by Trappist monks (courtesy of the owners who also run the Belgian Beer Cafe next door), this wine and tapas bar sadly doesn't serve any monk brews. However, what they do have are some quality drops of wine and some seriously good tapas for a quick nosh.
The serves are generous enough to share and small (and well-priced) enough to try a few different ones. Start with some authentic chorizo and white anchovies before moving onto more substantial fare. The salty little morsels will prepare your palette for what's to come and make your exceptionally good wine taste even better.
