After a long day of exploring the sandy beach and bustling promenade of Glenelg, visitors to this sunny seaside suburb might want to take a step back - or up - to the relative tranquillity of the Top of the World Revolving Restaurant. While the restaurant is not quite at the dizzying, cloud-enveloped heights that the name implies, at level 12 of the Atlantic Tower, it is plenty high enough. The restaurant turns slowly (taking 92 minutes for a full revolution), offering panoramic views of the ocean, the Mount Lofty Ranges and the church spire-spiked landscape of Adelaide city. In keeping with the briny air outside and the sparkling aquatic views, the international menu provides a wonderful selection of seafood, featuring such delicacies as lobster and squid. The meat dishes also offer much to savour, including lamb shanks and top-grade scotch fillets.

Don't let looks fool you - it's a gem
I have to say this was the best dinner ever, fantastic food, friendly staff, great owner who was so helpful. We got the platter for 2 and we struggled to get through most of it but it was beautiful, the chef made a few changes for us foc no dramas...can't believe we hadn't found it earlier....will be back in 2 weeks can't wait!

Sensational
We thought we would try the Top of the World Revolving Restaurant as it was our anniversary and wanted something special. We both enjoy our Seafood and this restaurant has a wonderful reputation for such cuisine. Our experience was thoroughly enjoyable (once we got used to revolving!) and we were not disappointed with the sensational Seafood Platter, a great combination of hot and cold Seafood and so much better than what most other seafood restaurants put out on their platters which are usually all crumbed and deep fried! This had Lobster (beautiful and fresh),Natural Oysters, Salt and pepper calamari, smoked salmon, Cold fresh prawns, Garlic Prawns, Fish of the Day, scallops in the shell, soft shell crab (I think I,ve remembered everything!!) We managed to squeeze in dessert of a sensational strawberry pavlova and a sherry berry trifle which had lovely flavours. Service was excellent with friendly attentive staff and the atmosphere was very special with such a gorgeous view. Thoroughly recommend it!

Bad Staff and Overpriced
The staff at the apartment complex where we are staying suggested we not dine there telling us what we could expect when we got there. We wish we had listened to them. The staff are rude, slow and generally could care less about anybody there. I am not even sure if there is a manager in that place, just a bunch of kids running around the restaurant. They seem more interested in talking to people who appear to be their friends, than other paying guests. The food is extremely overpriced, and the meat is of poor quality. Do not go there if you want a nice meal with a nice atmosphere. Only go there if you want a nice view.

A disappointing experience
I dined at the Revolving Restaurant not too long ago. Whilst the food was decent enough, the service was an absolute joke.
I was part of a party of 8 people. We ordered our meals. And waited. And waited. And waited. Over an hour later, our entrees arrived. Then there was another hour wait for the mains. When the mains arrived, I waited for almost an hour for my simple side of potato to arrive. In the end, it took 4 or 5 reminders before the side arrived. If the side had been cooked even after the first arrival, it should not have taken so long!
Considering the prices and the supposed goal for this restaurant to be a fine dining experience, I was absolutely appalled. I can get much better service and more friendly and attentive waiters at my local (very busy) low-priced Indian restaurant. Yes, there were staff whose sole role appeared to be walking around and filling our glasses (which they manage to do quite admirably), there were snowy-white tablecloths and prettily presented food that actually tasted quite good. But the service was appalling, and the quality of the food was no better than elsewhere.
The decor in the restaurant looked quite dated with carpets that looked due to be replaced. The ambience was average. Whilst the views from the restaurant were quite pretty, the restaurant had a fairly factory-like feel... Which would have been acceptable if the restaurant had also had a factory-like efficiency in its operation! The waiting staff were robotic, doing their job (presumably) but not particularly friendly and certainly not accommodating to very reasonable requests.
Overall, I was extremely disappointed and will not dine there again. There are so many better dining experiences available in Adelaide!
