This little Thai joint opened in early 2005 and has been jam-packed ever since. There is no secret behind the success of this venture; the difference between it and its contemporaries is obvious. The timber-floored space is accented with bright red lighting and furniture as fiery as their spicy chilli jam, and both the interior and the outdoor heated courtyard are generally abuzz with lively chatter. Chef and co-owner Pichai Ngoensawang creates authentic Thai dishes from his homeland, stubbornly insisting on only the freshest ingredients, with no MSG or preservatives used. Everything on the menu is made fresh to order, from the spring rolls and fish cakes to the masaman curry. The difference is evident in the taste, which packs a fair punch without relying on heat for impact.

Eat in !
We have eaten at TT a few times. Always great food & service. Recommend the egg plant! The take away however leaves a little to be desired. The take away we purchased tonight was hardly edible, like a bowl of nasty $2 take away. The manager got nasty about it when we complained! Anyways try for yourself...

Perfection at Tongue Thai'd
What an amazing little restaurant!!! Tongue Thai d get s it right in all areas!!
Let s start with the food, which is amazing!! I was with a group of six people and we ordered starters and meals to share which is a great way to do it because you get to sample more dishes!! Everything was full of flavour, well presented and obviously cooked with love. The menu itself has a reasonable amount of options, I agree with the previous review that the fish cakes are divine, as is the stuffed eggplant!! I am not a real fan of duck but I loved the Red Duck Curry!!!
Staff really are one big happy family led by owners Pichai and Matt, the fact that a lot of staff members have been there for a number of years shows that it is not only a fabulous place to dine but also a great place to work. Service is very friendly, relaxed yet professional and you can t help but feel welcome!! It amazed me how many of the diners new the staff clearly return customers form a large part of the clientele!!
The atmosphere is alive, there are various rooms including an outdoor garden area. The setting is intimate yet playful and fun!! A lot of the artwork that adorns the walls was painted by Pichai which is again a nice personal touch. Tables are not crammed in but with space restrictions and the lovely d?cor it is cosy, I didn t see this as a negative but some might?
The cocktail list is also great, I recommend the Love Me Long Time !! Unfortunately, I didn t get to try the Sex with your Sister (so wrong but so right) . If cocktails aren t your thing the wine list also has some great choices.
I was only visiting Adelaide and went to this restaurant based on recommendations and it was totally worth it. It isn t far out of the city and it made a nice change to be in quieter suburbia for a night out!!
I highly recommend the Tongue Thai d experience I will certainly go back when I m next in Adelaide!!

Worth a visit
It's the eclectic atmosphere and friendly staff which sets Tongue Thai'd apart. The laksa had too much coconut cream for my taste but all the other dishes tried were pretty good. The staff are passionate about customer service and it's the sort of place where you could just sit back and watch the goings on and be thoroughly entertained.
