Quaint, cute and very much in tune with Castlemaine's heritage as a gold rush town, Tilley's is a gorgeous tearoom housed in an 1872-built department store in an arcade in the centre of town. The high teas served up here include some of the best jelly slices, passionfruit sponge and chocolate cake (served with whipped cream, of course) around, and all accompanied by a vibe that is neither new-age, nor chic - just old fashioned authentic goodness at its best.
