Tho Tho

Serving up authentic Vietnamese cuisine consistently is tough. Doing it this successfully for more than 20 years means you're definitely doing something right.

This place doesn't believe in doing things in half measures. When they say they're going to do quality Vietnamese cuisine, they mean just about every facet of Vietnamese cuisine.

With more than 125 different options to choose from on the special lunch menu, tasting everything on offer is almost a full-time occupation. If you can't get through everything (and no one will blame you) then at least try the pork spring rolls, arguably the best to be had in Richmond.

not good
for one, the food is a lot more overpriced than the other restaurants.
Second, the service is slow an inattentive, I guess this is because its such a big place.
Food is fine, but there are much better places to go along Vic St....

family lunch at tho tho on victoria street
We have driven past Tho Tho many times and thought it looked busy so we decided to give a try. Today was meant to be a celebration lunch......but Tho Tho was not place to be.
The service from 4 staff was bordering on hostile though one staff member tried hard
the food was consistently poor. Our group tried 5 different entrees and 8 different main courses and there was not one that was enjoyable. When asked by staff when leaving how our meal was I stated terrible, and he inquired further I told him it was bland (including the hot chilli beef) He then stated that the kitchen only had one cook and perhaps she was leaving things out.
Overall incredibly disappointing food service and atmosphere.

Sad to see
I have been going to Tho Tho's for the past 5 years. In total I have been there more than 50 times. Unfortunately I have seen a decline in everything that had made this restaurant such a hit. Last night was for me the end of an era. The service, food quality and price had reached that point where I had to say enough is enough. The Vietnamese prawn spring rolls that were once legendary in my mind were dry and tasteless. The combination omelette was of such poor quality that I could not finish it, and I hardly touched the fried rice that came with it as it had no taste and was so dry. One waiter in particular presented our meal with the offering of: "is this yours?"

If I sound bitter, I am. As I said at the beginning what was a special place for me has now lost all of the things that made me go there in the first place. By the small numbers that I saw there last night, I sense that this is a trend that many have decided is worth taking. Thank you Tho Tho's for some great memories of some wonderful nights spent with you, but they will be no more.
