Like Melbourne itself, The World Restaurant Bar is a cultural melting pot, attracting all types of people with its broad spectrum of international and modern Australian cuisine, as well as its diverse range of live acts. It also makes a world of difference that this sleekly decorated modern restaurant and bar sits in a prime position overlooking the Yarra River in Southbank.
Making use of its assets, this venue features a bustling alfresco area for waterside wining and dining, a spacious bar with high tables and couches for social engagements and an inexpensive cocktail or two, and a more intimate experience inside the secluded a la carte restaurant, and under the warm glow of chandeliers.
Culinary cultures intermingle on the menu, with Greek saganaki sitting alongside Indian chicken tikka, English bangers and mash, and the all-Aussie barbecued kangaroo. Further options are available for vegetarians, vegans and celiacs, so no one misses out on the global gastronomy The World has to offer.

enjoyable
We went to this restaurant without any expectations and came away pleasently surprised. Our entrees of fennel and parmesan soup was first rate. Our mains, ravioli with goats cheese and tiger prawn pasta were tasty albeit a little creamy. The only downer of the night was the dessert...whilst the sticky date pudding, with butterscotch sauce was delicious. The description of the pudding included a side of ice-cream, however a teaspoon of ice cream is not a side of anything. When we asked for more ice-cream we were charged extra...so other than that glitch it was an enjoyable experience.
