The Terrace Cafe

Situated on the buzzing South Terrace of South Fremantle, The Terrace Cafe offers a laidback dining experience to suit its beach suburb locale. On the site of what used to be Bistro Monzu, this cafe takes a more casual tact than its predecessor, offering up mouth-watering comfort foods that typify Western cuisine. These include gourmet pizzas, pastas and salads, to name just a few.

What a breath of Fresh Fremantle Air!!
At Long Last!
Great, great, beautiful coffee, gorgeous cakes, fabulous "friendly" attentive service, delicious "fresh" food, lovely comfortable "clean" interior, and "clean" sparkling toilets. Yes I do mean toilets. You can always judge a restaurant and kitchen by their toilets - anywhere in the world.
I have long found it difficult to eat anywhere decent in South Fremantle. It seems to me many places there continue to serve ordinary to mediocre food, with poor service in what can only be described as grungy premises. It seems today grunge is considered the new chic . What happened to good old fashioned cleanliness, it does not have to be new, just clean.
The Terrace cafe has ended that view of South Fremantle for me and they have brought what I consider great coffee and food. I recently had the good fortune to be taken there for lunch with my partner by some locals and I can tell you I was very dubious.
My apprehension was blown away by the greeting given us by the blonde lady in attendance that afternoon. She was delightful and friendly and greeted us like we were family. I noticed the staff greeted people like this here even if you were just having a coffee.
After seating us and making us comfortable with water and menus she told us about their food. (They have only been there a few short months. ) In describing the salads she told us of their specialty the Grilled watermelon salad , we could not imagine such a thing; however our local friend insisted we try it. WOW! We are so glad we did.
We have been back there several times now and we live 14kms away. This has become our favourite of favourites. The coffee has an unusual long tasting yet smooth velvety palate, it is the best flat white we have had anywhere in Perth.
Back to the food, we have not been disappointed with any of the meals. I have had the fish of the day 3 times and each time not only was it plated differently but the texture and taste was always superb, and fresh. My partner has had the risotto, the beef, lasagne and lamb rack on various visits, and went into raptures each time.
The last time we ate their last weekend we tried a gourmet pizza as a starter. It was simply delicious, the likes of which we have not had for a very long time.
I could go on and on about this place but I think it better if you try it out for yourself, you will not be disappointed.
Thank you Terrace caf?, you have restored our faith in Fremantle. Keep up the quality, good work.
PS We are coming to try out the breakfast on Sunday with our friends who introduced us to say thank you.
