With the high tea revival in full swing, the National Gallery of Victoria have created their own Tea Room to offer their interpretation of this classic ritual, and bring it out of the realm of hotel restaurants. The afternoon tea is without a doubt the main attraction here: a classic selection of sandwiches, savouries and sweet treats served with tea or coffee (and an option to upgrade to a glass of bubbly). But not having the time to indulge in the whole hog doesn't mean missing out on the fun. Crustless sandwiches (try the chicken with herb mayo or the smoked salmon with creme fraiche) are available for purchase individually, as are the freshly baked scones and the ever-popular macarons.
