Sweet times and sweeter rhymes find a somewhat retro home at this Kings Cross original. Majestically poised on the corner of Darlinghurst Road and Earl Place, the Sugarmill is an exuberant mixture of a swish gastro-pub, an old-school tavern, and a funky nightclub venue, featuring moody leather and studded booths, antique-style light fittings, and kitschy wallpapering. It all amounts to a supremely warm space, even if you choose the buzzing outdoor area where you can perch under a heater in colder months while boozing up with friends. With plenty of cocktails, wines, and local and imported beers to get the night going, the Sugarmill bravely keeps the kitchen open until punters leave (which could be 4am on any day). Filling highlights include the roast duck pizza, baby back pork ribs and the almighty 400g Black Angus T-bone steak.
