In an area of town dominated by winery restaurants only spruiking their own vintages, it's nice to see a contemporary bistro doing its thing just for the sake of good food.
Housed in Yallingup's arts centre and perched adjacent to the national park, Studio Bistro enjoys the luxury of stunning views no matter where you look. The dining room sits on the fault line between the marvels of contemporary architecture and the majesty of nature. A similar union of nature's beauty and modern technique can be seen on the menu, where local provenance and cooking fundamentals reign supreme. The bistro tag allows head chef Blair Allen to cast his net wide in his culinary influence, while still bringing it all together under the convenient banner of mod-Oz food.
Untethered by brand allegiances, the wine list is an interesting read that offers a great sampling of the region's best drops. Like everything else about Studio Bistro, its main aim is to remain friendly and accessible to a broad cross-section of society - a job that it, and the rest of this venue, does a respectable job of accomplishing.
