For those who profess that Bondi is Sydney's coolest suburb, The Rum Diaries may as well be "exhibit A". Yes, this cocktail bar/European tapas lounge/jazz joint/debauchery den could well be the most original thing you'll find in Bondi (just don't tell too many friends about it). Whether you're curled up in a nook by the bookcase, or swishing down a toddy glass of hot buttered rum by the bar, this trendy hotspot is a buzzing place to be. While the cocktail creations have gained quite a reputation, so has the food menu, which features tapas treats like smoked fishcakes, honey-glazed almond carrots, and organic salmon ceviche. The mains are also designed to excite the senses, including rump of lamb, Feijoada beef stew, and an asparagus and roasted baby beet salad.
