Originally built to serve parched and starved railway workers, this 1894 Victorian-era pub now serves good ales and cheap eats to the sizeable student population of the area. Aside from the ritual rounds of beers and Tuesday trivia nights, the Royal Hotel offers a ridiculously inexpensive range of all-time favourite bistro meals. Chicken parma, rump steak and grilled barramundi fillet sit alongside vegetarian-friendly options like a pumpkin and haloumi salad, and a grilled vegetable burger. And here's one especially for the local uni boys and girls: the good ol' Uni Steak burger. Long live the Royal!
