People ride their bikes in the dead of winter through the cold hard rain and fierce winds, just to sit by the fire at The Retreat and eat one of their homemade pies. Others go for the bangers 'n' mash, the burgers, the lamb shanks and the ginger-marinated chicken breast. As you walk in through the narrow entrance, you'll often see happy drinkers by the bar. If you're there for dinner, grab a menu, order and pay at the bar and take a seat in a booth. If you happen to have ridden your bike through the chill outside and are planning on ordering the homemade pie - take your time. Relish that crisp pastry as long as you can before you have to ride home again!
