This converted warehouse blurs the boundaries between bar and restaurant with its all-day offerings of tapas plates and cocktails. The space is chic and shiny, with modern light features and a long bar dominating the space. However, rustic touches remain, with exposed sandstone walls and artfully rough edges. The tapas menu features well-priced modern Australian nibbles, from scallop and corn fritters with chilli nam jim sauce to braised venison with bitter chocolate, while their fondue platters offer a modern spin on a retro classic. While The Quarry's boozy alter ego of a stylish drinking spot is readily apparent, this hasn't stopped the venue from becoming surprisingly popular for its breakfasts - with skilful renditions of brekkie favourites offered from 7.30am.

Terrible service
Having been to The Quarry previously and been impressed, a few of us decided to go out after dinner in North Hobart. We phoned up The Quarry and they said that we could have coffee and cake. Once we got there and started to peruse the menu, a waitress came up to the table, and with no explanation, took the menu out of my husband's hands and said that it shouldn't be 'floating around'. She walked off and I expected her to come back with an updated menu (thinking that the menu we were looking at was outdated). No - she started to serve other customers and we just sat there, flabbergasted. Needless to say, we left shortly afterwards, after my husband asked the waitress why she took the menu away and her response was that the kitchen was closed (this was after we phoned up to check that it wasn't). No apology, no nothing. We just walked away in disgust at her rude manner and needless to say will not be going back to The Quarry in a hurry.
