The Oaks Hotel

Boasting one of the busiest beer gardens on the North Shore, The Oaks Hotel is much more than just a local bar, featuring a steakhouse, gourmet pizza and beer cafe, the art deco Nineteenthirtysix bar, and various spacious function areas. If you're on the market for meat, the steakhouse's fresh steaks include rib-eye, rump, T-bone, and other hearty varieties, alongside a selection of seafood options including Atlantic salmon, and mussels in five different styles. Looking to share something in the beer garden? The traditional and gourmet pizzas provide a filling feed for all.

Great atmosphere but disappointing food
The atmosphere in this place is lively and cheerful but the food was really disappointing in terms of taste and value for money. We ordered grilled atlantic salmon and grilled barramundi. They were advertised as 200g serves. The barramundi looked like it was barely 100g - about the size of the palm of my small female hand. The salmon was slightly larger. This could have been due to the fact that they were so overcooked there was barely any moisture left in the fish. On top of this the price was equivalent to the price paid at a full service, a la carte restaurant. Please, if you're selling 'just' pub food, charge 'just' pub rates!
